The UCLA Department of Film, Television, and Digital Media is seeking for Pre-College Program Staff to support commuter summer programs for high school students.
Appointment(s): June 23rd, 2025 – August 2nd, 2025
Multiple positions available, approximately full-time and part-time positions
Residential accommodations are not available for 2025 Pre-College Program Staff hires.
During the summer, the Department of Film, Television, and Digital Media welcomes high school students to study in a supportive environment that fosters community and diverse perspectives. - All staff must be available from June 23, 2025 – August 2, 2025
- Mandatory In-Person Training – June 18th
- CPR and Basic First Aid Certification – June 20th

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
ALL PRE-COLLEGE STAFF:
- Experience working with minors is strongly preferred.
- Experience working in youth programming is strongly preferred.
- Must complete a fingerprinting/live scan background check through the University of California Police Department, and CANRA training.
- Attend in-person training days, complete online LMS training modules, and golf cart training.
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving a golf cart.
- Must uphold all CANRA and TITLE IX policies, including serving as a mandated reporter. Must report all incidents to appropriate personnel including, but not limited to, departmental supervisors, administrative employees, residential supervisors, and the University of California Police Department.
- All Pre-College Program Staff will be expected to be in-person and commute to Melnitz Hall on UCLA’s main Westwood campus.
- Must be available to support programs Monday through Saturday, approximately from 8:30 am - 6 pm, with some activities scheduled for Sundays.
DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES:
OVERVIEW
Pre-College Program Staff are essential to the successful execution of the Pre-College UCLA Emerging Filmmakers Programs. Staff are responsible for the health and safety of students, as well as supporting instructors and program staff by keeping students on time and assisting with programmatic events.
Basic duties involve, but are not limited to:
- General supervision and accountability of participants during the program.
- Each track features unique topics, structures, and activities tailored to its focus. Pre-College Program Staff provide dedicated support to meet the specific needs of each track.
- Escorting students to Melnitz Hall (and other UCLA facilities) for classes and programmatic activities.
- Taking daily attendance.
- Leading/supervising evening activities as needed.
- Supervising students during meal breaks.
- In-class monitoring and class support.
- Collect student phones at the start of class and return to students at the end of class.
- Chaperoning programmatic activities off-campus.
- Preparing and conducting team building/bonding activities.
- Craft services and general on-set duties to assist instructors and other program staff on pre-college shoot days and other major program events.
- Lead student discussions regarding assigned screenings, guided activities, and homework.
- Facilitate the morning colloquium before class begins.
- Assist and support production coordinators and/or writing coordinators during program workshops and morning colloquium.
ALL PRE-COLLEGE PROGRAM STAFF MUST:
- Comply with UCLA policies and procedures and act consistently with the University’s mission and guiding principles.
- Play an integral role in achieving the highest level of academic, personal, and social development for program participants.
- Help provide a safe learning environment by ensuring program rules, regulations, and safety expectations are followed.
- Be a positive role model to young storytellers. Positive role models are encouraging, supportive, and responsible.
COMPENSATION
- $22 - $24/hr
